Why we check for a leak before refilling

Refrigerant is a closed-loop system, it doesn't get used up through normal operation. If your AC's gas level is low, gas has escaped somewhere in the line, most often at a joint, valve or a small corrosion point in an older unit. Some technicians will top up the gas without finding the leak, which cools the room again for a few weeks or months until the level drops low enough to cause problems again. We test the system's pressure, locate the leak point, seal it, then charge the system to the correct level for your unit.

Signs you likely need a gas refill

• The AC runs and the fan works, but the air is only slightly cooler than room temperature
• Ice forming on the indoor coil or on the refrigerant line running to the outdoor unit
• Cooling that used to be strong has gradually gotten weaker over months
• The compressor runs constantly without the room ever quite reaching your set temperature

What we use

Most residential units across JVC run on either R-410A or R-32 refrigerant, our technicians carry both, along with the pressure-testing equipment to confirm the correct charge for your specific unit rather than guessing by volume.
